August 26, 2010
I am looking forward to a busy end of the summer with a wedding this weekend in Genesee on Friday evening and our New Member’s class and Baptismal preparation on Saturday morning. Since we have over 20 people in the New Member’s Class, we have had to move the Membership Class to Rooms 115-116 in Building B (The Chapel Building). If you haven’t signed up yet, please call the church office and let us know of your interest. The Membership class will meet at 9:30 followed by the Baptismal Counseling at 11:00. Both will meet in Rooms 115-116. This Sunday will be Baptism Sunday at both services with guest artist Megan Isaacson leading us in worship. What a great way to end the summer!
This Sunday, I will be preaching on “The Sad Story of the Rich Young Ruler” from Mark 10:17-31. Please read over the text and be prepared to see why this great religious leader turned away from Christ with real deep sorrow in his heart. This is another example of the huge contrast between religion and the Gospel. Don’t miss this very special Sunday.
We have gone through the whole summer without a financial meltdown and we thank God for your faithful giving. We are at a point, however, where things are now very tight and we will have to hold off payoff a number of days. Please continue to give generously, joyfully, and sacrificially. Thanks for your prayers and support.
